Arrange your candle on a stable, flame-resistant surface where it is easy to observe and protected from drafts. For best performance keep burn times under four hours. Before each burn, trim the wick to half-a-centimetre to ensure a calm, gentle flame.  

Many of our candles are designed to glow internally while slowly maintaining their outer form.  

To achieve this ensure the wax pool reaches the outer edges to avoid narrow tunnelling during each burn.  

For larger candles such as the Kina or Scented Oranges we recommend the initial burn lasts at least one hour. With tapering candle forms, such as the Scented Pear, ensure a short wick is maintained until the wax pool widens.

When lit, retain the wick’s central position with a metal dipper if required to ensure an even burn. It is normal for deposits, referred to as mushrooms, to form on the wick over time. If this happens or the flame flickers, it is a sign the wick requires trimming. Gently snuff, trim and re-light to maintain a calm, steady flame.  

To snuff the flame, either use a snuffer or gently dip the wick into the wax pool and re-straighten with a metal dipper. This primes the wick while preventing smoke and soot.  Allow the wax pool to solidify evenly each time and trim the wick ready for your next burn. Ensure to snuff the candle before it reaches the base. 

If the outer surface appears white and cloudy over time this is the natural crystallisation of compounds within the beeswax known as bloom, a hallmark of pure beeswax! Bloom will not affect burning and is easily removed by gently warming the surface with a hairdryer or polishing with a soft cloth.
